Cancelling sky within 12 months

    Hi,

while we have had sky for many years, we had a sky box installed upstairs in January. With this, I understand there is a 12 month contract.
With Saorview and the like, we feel we no longer wish to pay for a sky subscription. Anyone have any idea what happens if we decide to cancel our entire sky subscription? I don't mind paying out a little bit for the box upstairs, as we did agree to a 12 month contract, costing an extra €15 on top of our subscription, but don't really want to be stuck with it for the next 5 months.

    thanks

As far as I understand,,you'll have to pay off the rest of the 12 month contract.

It isn't as easy as saying you don't want it anymore.

Plus,,you must give 31 days notice!

Not to be coming across as harsh etc... But you signed a new contract. I know many in ireland think these to not be worth anything, but unfortunately they are. You are required to pay out your entire 12 months, although they may allow you to pay the minimum fee per month (20euro or so per month, plus multi room fee's, depending on contract)

I know its inconvenient, but its required for these companies to survive!

You are obliged to see out your contract, you seem to be aware of this already and therefore know that the only way out of it is to pay the balance that may be owed or stick with it until the 12 months are up.

Don't attempt to simply cancel the DD as it will lead to all kinds of hassle and could have implications for your credit rating plus Sky will refer you to a debt collections agency.

You may as well stick with the service until your contract is up,at least then you'll be getting something for your money.
