Did anyone hear Lord Mayor Andrew Montague on Newtalk’s Lunchtime Show yesterday. He says the 13th of July last set a new record for the Dublin Bike Scheme, 6280 journeys that day. Since it was set up only two bikes have been stolen and both were recovered. One bike could be used by up to 12 people a day, double the figure for London. The plan is to increase the number of bikes from 500 to 5000 and to extend the area covered.

He also said that 2000 people work at Googles headquarters in Dublin, they have 20 car parking spaces and 1000 bike parking spaces.

Is Ireland slowly developing a mainstream bike culture?
