    * Hypothetical scenario * two young persons

12 stone guy is a fit person ( eats well, keeps fit, trains with heavy weights and is strong for his size )

    14 stone guy is an unfit person ( eats **** , doesn't train, )

Who wins in a fight? THe guy who is stronger or the guy who is much heavier?

    Neither guy has any training....

    Neither has any training?..

Whoever is most violent, can hit the hardest for longest and has the intent to cause the other a lot of injury is in my experience the one who'll win, regardless of physical conditioning.

Whoever comes up behind the other with a breeze block?

It's not the size of the dog in the fight it's the size of the fight in the dog. Seeing as neither you nor your brother/friend/enemy are dogs I would go with the guy who lands the first good punch.

weight without skill will mean very little in this scenario, the fit dude could be a wimp or a savage and like wise the unfit lad-if both where evenly tough and skilled naturally i'd bet on the fit 1, if both skilled i'd bet on the big lad as he could use the extra 2 stone to his advantage..

I saw this scenario outside our apartment one night years ago... it was an entertaining draw :)

Double headlock almost straight away, fall over, try to punch the face off each other, exhausted after 2 minutes.... lay on the ground locked together for 10 minutes... got up, walked away, bloodied, drowned in sweat and shouting abuse at each other!

Aggression and cardio would be the most beneficial traits. Though the ability to hit hard would also help :)

I agree, however I'll add that if the fit guy knows how to use his fitness against the overweight dude, then he should know how to win. So I'm guess I'm saying intelligence has a huge part to play too.

It's kind of an unwinnable argument though as there are waaaay to many variables in fighting to have a definitive answer !!

Agreed, seen a guy take on 5 lads before he was smaller than all of them no training, 2 of them needed an ambulance was quite the spectacle.

    interesting scenario.
would there be any rules in this match? if there were guidelines in place, they would impact the outcome.

speed would also be a factor as well as all the points mentioned already.

My money would be on strong guy.

a similar sparring scenario happened to me last Wednesday.

    * I am 12stone on the dot, sparring against my brother in law who is 15stone,

    * both of us have only 2months of kickboxing training.

    * I am 9months into strength training, lift quite heavy 3times a week, and kickboxing 2times a week, my cardio is OK at best, but improving.

*His cardio is poor but getting better. he dose not do any strength training or exercise, other than kickboxing twice a week.

while sparing - I had a big advantage, and landed far more punches because of my fitness, and my endurance was better, I think that my overall level of fitness gave me a little bit extra.

In a fight without rules, the outcome would quite different, and could go either way without any protocol in place.

    that's my 2cents
    ;)

The one who has no problem fighting dirty from the very start.

One good kick to the nuts, headbutt right on the bridge and you have your winner

depends. If both men are untrained in martial arts then it could go either way.
