I discovered that, thankfully, I got myself a funded PhD starting in September. Now I applied for JSA three weeks ago and just got a letter telling me to pop into my local office re signing on week. Now my question is, seeing as I am starting in September, can I claim JSA for August? I've yet to get any money from JSA and I am new to the whole system so I just want to make sure everything is on the level.

    Thanks!

Congrats on the Phd. Once you are actively seeking work from the time you signed on for JSA and can prove this even though you are starting a Phd in September then there is no reason why you cannot claim JSA
