The payments you are after are at the discretion of the CWO.

no-one here can tell you that you will definitely get whats called an Exceptional Needs Payment from the CWO (thats the name of the payment your looking for). Here is some information:
    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/supplementary_welfare_schemes/exceptional_needs_payments.html
When it comes to these payments there's no "automatic" entitlement, the CWO basically looks at all your current circumstances and decides whether to give it to you, and is so, how much.

Err... why can't you just rent a furnished house instead? It's not like there's a shortage of them!

A grant to buy bloody furniture, jesus h christ!!

But sure why would you rent a furnished house when the govt can give you money for new stuff, and this is in top of paying your rent then giving you a couple of hundred quid every week. Seriously this is a ridiculous thread and just shows how stupid the welfare system in this country is. Some cheek to even ask about furniture when your already getting everything for nothing.

Dont attack the poster for asking a genuine question on a once off payment for things like this.

if its a private rented house you will not get any help. they will only help with a council house.

Again, dont attack the poster for asking a question.

If you have a problem with the system and its workings, then write a letter of complaint to your local TD and also write it to the SW Department.

But dont attack the poster/OP for asking a genuine question.
