I am a qualified aircraft mechanic, and have worked in aviation for 7 years, 4 year apprenticeship, and 3 years contracting around Europe. Ive come to a point now where i want to have a more stable, not so much traveling lifestyle. Problem is not many people have a 737 that they need fixed! So i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions, or experiences with using your aviation experience to get into another type of industry?
Ideally i would like to be based around Dublin?
Any help would be very appreciated.

I believe BA will be hiring soon but again only a rumour and in the UK obviously and Airbus will be taking on lots in November for Toulouse 3 year contracts with nice T+C's,not a whole lot here but try the companies here sure it'll do no harm,n#wouldn't be a fan of the wages in Dub Aerospace

I think you need to speak fluent French if you want to join Airbus.

The majority of F1 teams are based in the UK. Williams, Force India, Lotus Racing, McLaren, Mercedes GP, Red Bull, Renault and Virgin are all based in differnet parts of the UK.

No idea how you would get a job with them however

Lots of F1 jobs advertised in back of motorsport magazines. Usually people for aero & composites.

    Hi there
I did two years in the oil and gas industry, servicing industrial turbines around the world. It also included work on oil rigs, desert sites, island sites and all kinds of other machines, especially diesel engines such as Cats. The industry is always busy, is always looking for experienced techs, who are willling to work hard, put up with unsocial hours in tough conditions and the rest. I worked in Belgium, USA, Syria, Azerbaijan, Italy, Australia, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. There are loads of agencies recruiting for the industry and are always hungry for aircraft techs, especially avos and turbine guys. Same also with marine engineering.A lot of yards out there, you just have to go looking. There are Irish-based companies such as Wood Group, who overhaul oil industry equipment, including turbines.
The work is out there and your experience as an aircraft mech is very good at crossing over to oil and gas and marine.
    regards
    Stovepipe
