It would be a shameful waste of a great actor.

    I doubt it's true anyway.. it's mentioned on broadsheet.ie for god's sake!

I'd vote for Bosco over the current muppets

Who isn't thinking of running for the Presidency? We're really just making our way through the telephone book right now

is that your roundabout way of saying that you are also running for president?

    later10 for president!

Great idea it’ll add a bit of glamour to the role – Although as one of the posters has mentioned, seven years is too long to have him off the old silver screen.

So my proposal – we put together a Hollywood 7 who’ll do the job for a year each.
    • Brendan Gleeson
    • Pierce Brosnan
    • Liam Neison
    • Colin Farrell (I can see problems this year)
    • Cillian Murphy
    • Daniel Day Lewis
    • Gabriel Byrne

Well, George Lee is perhaps the exception (I think)...

Surely he can act as president! It would be his ultimate acting role.

Or if that fails call Mario Rosenstock and he can do impressions of Barack Obama. Or Roy Keane..

He gave a very passionate speech lashing into the HSE and FF/PD's on the late late show a few years ago, due to the bad treatment of his mother in hospital. Would certainly give him a second preference behind Michael D.

I remember this vividly. He has experienced the HSE at first hand and knows what an absolute shambles it is. I would hope that he is a wise enough man to see that HSE admin staff on 50% more than private sector equivalents and consultants on double the UK rate are not the people that need protecting from government, rather the ordinary workers in the non-unionsed jobs, just getting by.

I couldn't vote for a Labour nominee after Joan Burton's assertion that they couldn't possibly cut teachers (on 60k+) wages and so there is nothing for it but to enlarge classes. What a great "left wing" we have in Labour.

Brendan Gleeson is a ridiculous option... until you consider the rest of the declared candidates.

I've been told there is an article about this in the Sunday World, I don't have access to a copy. Anyone seen it?

Pizzazz is all well and good.
But IMO he's lacking in chutzpah and his moxy needs work.
