Good news for the Schlecks, they need someone to show them how to be a bit more ballsy.

As if we didn't already have enough reasons to dislike the schlecks?

I don't know a whole lot about the sporting side of cycling, but it seems wrong that HTC and Bob Stapleton are exiting the sport while this is happening at Leopard Trek......

It seems a bit like two steps back, followed by another step back.......

I was really gutted on hearing the possibility of LA returning to manage the Schlecks and Cancellara...

... but then again we have one thing to look forward to next year

How's armstrong going to manage a cycling team from prison?

I really don't see what the problem is.

A 7 time TdF champion agrees to manage a team which sole aim is to win the TdF, seems like a no brainer to me.

Or is it that people here have their suspicions about LA, and therefore beleive that he shouldn't be allowed near the sport.

Bear in mind, the man has, as of yet!!, not been found guilty of anything but some of you think that he should not be allowed take up a job in a sport he has great experience in. All based on some unsubstantiated claims (as of yet!)

I think it is a great move by the Schlecks, they are certainly lacking in terms of tactics and who better than the man who basically wrote the tactics rules for a sucessful TdF (Bruneel of course as well).

We have riders come back after two years after been caught taking PED's and that seems alright, yet LA is not suppossed to ever play a part in the sport again because of what....some rumours and inuendo.

Imagine you guys were barred from taking a job becuase people just 'knew' you had been up to something. They have no evidence of course, but hey.

PS - All the above is on the basis that he has not been found out as yet, which I will admit is not certain to remain the case for too long.

PPS - also just want to but a contra view as otherwise this thread will be decidedly boring

Armstrong did not, to my mind, have a particularly flexible tactical approach. His ' circumstances' allowed the expectation of an absolute domination of a key stage containment thereafter. This year evidenced a more level playing field

I'd say Phil and Paul, and Graham Watson, had several, quick strokes when they heard this.

So does this mean that LA will use all his "experience" to help the schlecks in their continuing attempts to win the TDF...............

The sport needs to move on, not look back, and (as has been said of McQuaid) Armstrong is part of the problems of the past, and his presence can ONLY cast a negative shadow on the sport given what he is about to go through in the courts. I have my doubts that much will be found to stick to him in any federal hearing, but that's a bit 'beside the point', IMO - he will inevitably bring further negative PR back to the sport. A bad day for pro-cycling.

Good one Lance! ;) I read that before, that you got an alert whenever your name went up on the internet!

Great news. They will become the most tested team on the planet with no positives. The Schlecks will become legends of time trailing. Why, oh why can't you believe?

Lads I think you are all getting this wrong.
LA a guy who showed ability as a 1 day Classic rider and very average TTer turns himself into a GT rider who could do it all.

Its Fabian we should be talking about not the Schlecks. Think about it, a Super Classic rider and Champion TTer.
With LAs help he could win all 3 GTs the Olympic Double and the Worlds 2012 and go on to win the TdF into his 40s

Kimmage: "The sport of cycling went into remission, then the cancer came back, then we managed to get the sport back into remission and now after all that, the cancer is back... Again..."

FFS!!!!! This sport is like my first girlfriend. It just keeps toying with my emotions from one moment to the next! After the Tour we just witnessed, i really thought she had changed. And now we have to look forward to Vino and Lance managing two of the biggest teams?!?!?!?

Dear cycling, this is the hardest decision i've ever made. I know we've had some great times together, but i cannot continue to ignore the fact that you're a heartless bitch... So I'm breaking up with you! Don't bother trying to call or text, i've changed my number!

I don't think anyone's saying he shouldn't be allowed take a job. It's more that it would be a disastrous PR move on the part of Leopard Trek. Sean Fitzpatrick hasn't been convicted of anything either. Do you think it would be wise of Bank of Ireland to hire him as their chief executive?

Anyway, I've yet to see this story published anywhere else, so I'll believe it when I see it.
