Sorry for the bleak subject, but looking at ireland system a person convicted of murder can apply for parole years down the line, where a person convicted for murdering a guard or head of state is usually not considered.

In uk a person can get a tariff or whole life sentence, there was an shocking news story from wicklow where the neighbours thought their neighbour was an ordinary person, but it wasn't,was only caught thanks to a gardai were suspicious with the validation of driving licence-

For those who kill bad people yes. Liberalism needs balance in terms of justice.

How would Red ever get out of Shawshank if they didn't?

It should be reviewed on a case to case basis by competent people.

So a condition of his parole was to stay in Yorkshire

But OP if Larry Murphy was ordered back to Wicklow until the early release part of his sentence was over would you be here welcoming it?

Every case is different, case by case basis

    Come again?

Red was paroled after being in prison for murder. I'm aghast I've to explain it to you, Morgan.

No. No way. Would you like to live beside a convicted murdered (or rapist) on parole? I wouldn't, thank you very much.

Depends entirely on the circumstances of each individual case. It's not a yes or no question.
