Boyfriend and swearing

    Hi guys,

This problem may seem insignificant compared to others on here but basically my boyfriend swears a lot. We live together and I love him to bits but this really annoys me. Now don't get me wrong I swear too but not to the extent he does. It's part of his regular vocabulary.
He works in construction so I understand he's in that environment all day but we could be driving along and someone cuts him off and it's 'You stupid f****** w*****'. The C word which I hate is also in use. To be honest sometimes it embarrasses me.

I've talked to him about it but he says it just comes out and he doesn't mean any harm by it. His dad would swear a lot too but my dad did also and I haven't picked up the habit.

    Any advice? :/

With a little effort it is possible to tone it down. I used to swear loads, but when my daughter arrived, I decided that she would have plenty opportunity in her life to hear swearing, and that it shouldn't be at home. So I stopped.

Just tell him to stop. Everyone swears, but excessive swearing is just irritating.
Its not hard to stop, he just has to make a conscious decision to do it, even while he's working. There's no point in him only not swearing when he's with you, that would be impossible for him!
So just ask that he stop.

A lot of People in this country seem to think it's cool / entertaining / funny to use an expletive in every sentence. It's not!! Its so crass andgives the appearance that the person involved is uneducated.

It's not fair of you to ask him to stop if you still curse so maybe you could ask him to cut it out as you are giving up yourself.
