Depends really, but then you don't say what model of SIP it is. Do you just believe or actually know it has a Eurotorch?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,733 ✭✭✭✭corktina

i beleive but dont know nuffing...:D
thats exactly my point, if I accept unqualified advice like that and just go buy one, is it going to fit? I kinda doubt it.

i am qualified (is 33 years working at the trade qualified?) & if its a euro torch like you said it is then murex is the best torch i have mine 10 years after i replaced the original draper crappy one

    great.thanks.

But would that automatically fit any SIP welder? If so why do SIP have several different models only one of which is listed for my welder.

I have a SIP 150 welder about 6 years old,You cannot unscrew the torch at machine.

thats what I need to know, I had to dismantle mine to get torch off and the one on ebay looks to plug in in some way (not a clear photo)

then you dont have a euro torch & need this kit or a new welder with a euro torch
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MIG-EURO-TORCH-CONVERSION-KIT-including-MB15-4M-TORCH-/110716013479?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19c7304ba7
is your welder worth fixng? might be better off getting a new murex 235/245 that will last you a lifetime.

I still haven't seen a pic of this welder yet Corky....

It would have said a thousands words and got a more definitive answer.

However, does it NEED a torch or is that another guess? The wire feed (at least on some low-end SIP welders) is pants.

I would chuck it in the skip, because it is a SIP. Maybe a trip over to http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/index.php would be enlightening.

well if you knwo of a way to repair fire damage then Im sure it'll be OK :D

I hardly need a MIG and its more ecnomic to send 80 on a new torch than spend a fortune on a decent welder.

PS what you means STIll? did someone ask for a photo?

I don't think anyone asked for one, it's just gone this thread has gone on a while and it might have got a more concrete answer with a pic or even just a model number.

The wire feed on something like a SIP 130 T is a bit crap.

I got a decent hobby set, it's a Snap-On 130 turbo. Now I didn't buy it because it had Snap-On on the case, I bought it because I know it's a Cebora 130 underneath, (and I had a BOC Migmaster 130 before and it's the same thing with a different coat.)

I dropped £75 on it second-hand (up North). 4 years ago, I even picked a second-hand Cebora 130 version up for £65 that had been used about twice. Decent sets need not cost a fortune.

If you wish to persist with the SIP, have a butchers over at the Mig Welding forum link I gave and beef up the clamping mech for the wire feed whilst you're at it. You can convert it to a Euro-torch if you're feeling up to a bit of welder DIY and then you can set as many torches as you like on fire :p. A conversion kit would be in the 80 quid Sterling ball-park.

As I said, I wouldn't bother doing that with a SIP as there are better sets to use as a base. But I'll add, most of the above applies to their budget models which I'm guessing you have one of, but it's JUST a guess. So ignore the lot if it's something else.:pac:
