Can you do the same on Aerlingus as you can on Ryanair, by checking in online for your outbound and return flight. Even if the return flight is two weeks later?
I'd like to do it all before i travel rather than trying to find an internet cafe abroad with a printer to check in for the return flight.

No you cant. Aer Lingus only lets you check in 24 hours before your flight.
But you dont need to check in online for Aer Lingus so your return journey can be done at the airport.

No, aer lingus is a pain because you can only check in for each flight 2 days or whatever it is in advance.

I think its handier just to flick the passport through the machine, its one less item ntot o forget from your house. that said, not all airports have the machine and schiphol is the airport i travel to every month or so which has the machines

need to remember to use klm machines in schipol too which is far from obvious to a casual flyer. Seeing as they have about 5 logos on them, none of which is aer lingus!

If you have more than 30hrs to go to your outbound flight then use the advanced check-in, it will also give you the return b/c.
If you use the regular web check-in I'm not sure if it will give a return b/c, if no then you just go the check-in desk at the airport in Venice and check in the old fahsioned way, it is Aer Lingus you are travelling with?

So check in online before 30 hours and I don't have to check in for the return?

Just a word of warning - give yourself plenty of time in Venice airport. I went through there yesterday and the airport is mental!

Grand to go through security but beyond the shops you have to go through passport control and it's like a scrum as there is no queue system.

If you use the 30 hours plus option, does it not make you book your seat at a €5.00 additional charge? Is there a way to avoid this? It has been a while since I looked.

i am travelling aer lingus dublin to rome this month, but does anybody know do i have to pay €5 in order to check in online using New Advance Web Check-in as tried to check in tonight but says i have to select seats first, another way of squeezing the customer, you pay for a flight and in order to book in online they want you to pay for a seat!

You don't have to. You can wait until "normal" online heck in opens the day before and select for free.

Just wondering has there been any update on the length of time before you can check in?

30 hours is still too short

Flying to Berlin and cant use the app to check in it seems

Can you go to one of those aerlingus booths and do it yourself at the airport without charge?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

It's free of charge to check in at the airport with Aer Lingus, they don't consider checking a "frill" that you need to pay extra for.

    Thats great....

So its one of those self service things?

    Great news!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

Either self service or just stroll up to one of the desks, depends on the airport you're flying from.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭youngblood

    Thats great folks,

    Another quick question,

if your just bringing carry on your outbound journey
but want to bring a bag back (lets say your unsure how much shopping you'll do and if you needed to get a bag there but hadnt booked one before your left)

Can you add a bag to your ticket before you check in at the airport abroad on your return flight??

    If that makes sense?
