window regulator problem

    hi guys/girls,problem is driver door regulator cables snapped,can hear motor moving so was told it was cables gone,question is can i use any door regulator or do i have to use approved car regulator
    ie: car is 01 octavia 1.9d

    yeah you have to get the right one. not to bad of a job to to,you'll get one for about 70-80 euros. no point in buying a used one because its a common problem
    the cables rust and then snap.

    You should pick a genuine one up for cheap enough a VW one for a bora was 110 so should be around that or a little cheaper.Easy enough job to do yoursellf also - If its the same as the Bora then the speaker is pop riveted to the inner door skin (when you buy a new regulator you get the whole skin with regulator attached) so you need to drill out the old rivets and re rivet or just use some small nuts and bolts to re fit speaker.

    no the speaker screwed in on the octy, its handy enough to do.

    i got one from micksgarage for the focus. €120. easier to put in than take out. not a bad job to do yourself.

    Hi OP,

    this is a relatively simple job. i had to do this job myself a few weeks ago and it took about an hour. the regulator costs 77 euro from a skoda dealer. Here is a link to an English skoda website which shows you how to remove the door card:
