we used to do it unitil they pulled the folio, off the top of my head we paid £150 so that tells you how long ago.

To be honest I wouldnt get into a bidding war, the money you save can put a good view birds out on your permissions.

Too many dog walkers wasnt making it worth the hassel. I know a lad who was met by the unmarked squad when he came out of a field adjacent to a dog walkers paradise last year....Guard was sound about it too, just asked if he had permission and if he had his licence. Common sense prevailed.

making Mad money for deer, I "assume" that Game is also included on a lett.
I've never seen the contracts myself so I could not say for sure.

I used to be in a Gunclub that rented forestry for €200 a year to shoot birds, I never saw the contract there either though, I can opnly tell what I was told at the time.

To the best of my knowledge we rent it for pheasant woodcock and the like but i'm not sure on the deer thing to be honest tackleberry but its something i must look into as there is a few knocking around so one or 2 would do nicely for the freezer.

You would have to see the lease to be sure.

If you are a member of a club with deer on land and you rent the sporting rights you are entitled to shoot deer if you have the appropiate licence.

However if the lease Specifies Birds (which i doubt) you could only hunt what the lease allowed in theory

They run different tenders, one for deer and one for game(might even be a different one for released birds). If you have a deer lease it's only for deer

How is that Phrased into the lease?

And so that means that the woods can be full of hunters Deer Stalkers/Foxers/Game shooters??

On any land deeds i have seen there was sporting rights and maybe turbar

I never saw deeds that said, Game,Deer and Foxes or similar......

Coillte basically lease licences to hunt Deer, Rough Shoot(game except red grouse and deer) and to release and hunt reared birds.

The three seperate licences maybe for different areas, thats up to Coillte.

The deeds of the land dont matter as long as Coillte own the sporting rights, once they have full entitlement to the sporting rights they can lease out what ever part suits them and however they want to.

Your lease is really a licence to shot deer, and will be phrased as so. Someone else may have a licence to hunt game(rough shooting) or possibly to release and shoot reared birds.

Private owned Land(well land owned by some other than Coillte) will be different, and if you get to see deeds, they will state just sporting rights. If you owned lands like this, you could give permission to one lad that hunts deer and an other that hunts woodcock.

Nearly confusing myself with all that!

Just Heading for our A.G.M in a few weeks and i'm wondering has anyone on here in a club or privately have a forestry or forestry's rented form coillte from last year or just paid for a lease for the coming year? you can pm if you wish. We rent forestry for rough shooting of game birds mostly for the winter months and we have done the vermin count with our club the last few years which has generated some revenue but we mainly take the forestry's because guys bring foreigners around shooting game birds and there around during the week, and more or less travel were ever they want and also travel on private land and most club members only shoot on weekends or during Christmas Week.

Here in my county all gun clubs pay 50 or 70 for all coillte forests within their areas.

Is that €50-€70 per forestry or does it depend on the acreage of the forestry?

normally the way it works is ya can pick out whatever forestry suits your needs and is available and you tender a price for it. and normally the highest tender gets it. they work off 5 year tenders now so whtever u get its for 5 years. go to the coillte page and contact and it will give u your local office and you can ring and find out whats available in ur area
