Hi, yesterday my aimtop m4 stopped firing completly. There is no response from the trigger or motor. Its definately not the fuse or battery. Any help would be great. Cheers!

Check the connectors going to the motor from the gearbox - these have a tendency to work loose especially in M4 variants. The vibrations from the motor cause them to drop off or worst case snap off at the bend.

If the motor connections seem ok (unscrew the 2 small screws at the base of the grip to get at it), it sounds like a dodgy trigger switch. If you're not one for taking the gearbox apart you'll most likely want to get someone to look at this for you. It's not a tough job, just a bit finikey.

I got the motor out and it seemed to be working fine. How do I get to the gearbox?

The gearbox is a complete unit so you'll need to take the gun apart to get it out of the body. I'm not familiar with AimTop stuff so I don't know the disassembly procedure for the gun. I guess the best think you could do is look at the M4 disassembly thread in the Airsoft technical forum.

Did you try hooking the motor up to the battery to make sure it's still working? Taking the whole thing apart is a lot of work if the problem is the motor.

Yeah I took the motor out and connected the battery up and fired. The cog moved about a 1/5 of a rev. Is this working order for the motor? Or should it spin for full auto?

You just found the problem :pac:

Check the plugs on the cable, see if they move easily at the bend, they shouldn't.

Can you spin the motor freely by hand? There should be little or no resistance in it. There are two springs on the top of the motor (beside the tabs) are these present? If yes, are they touching the gold coloured blocks with cable leading from them?

The motor should just keep turning out of the gun and hooked to the battery.

There is alot of resistance. So a new motor is what it needs im guessin?

Possibly it's hard to tell you when I can't see the motor and AEG for myself - but it sounds like it could be the motor if it's not the other things we've mentioned. I know you can't tell if its the trigger switch or not as its inside the gearbox. The motor should keep turning when hooked up to the power.
