With current holders Berbatov and Tevez's current future in the balance who do you think is going to take their award away from them or could their be a shock in store!?

Here's Paddypower's betting odds so I'll list them in tha order

    http://www.paddypower.com/football/uk-football/premier-league?ev_oc_grp_ids=111192

No English man has one it since Kevin Phillips won the European Golden Shoe aswell in 1999-2000

Edit: Maybe 25 was too many options!

    Carlos Tevez
Aguero, at 14/1 has to be an appealing bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,592 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

    Gervinho
Balotelli at 25/1 looks good value to me. Tevez on the way out so he'll get more opportunities, and despite the sendings off, back heels etc, you can't argue with his scoring record.

would you know i'm a liverpool fan?!

    my money on Aguero though

2 votes for Suarez so far. The top goalscorer will come from Chelsea, Man United or Man City.

I didnt vote for him as dont think he'll bag loads but I was looking at Player of the Year aswell and he's 20/1 which suits him better imo

    Dimitar Berbatov
Think Andy Carroll will have a far better season than his preseason suggests.

For me though i can't see it being anyone other than Rooney.
Made nice bit last season by going for a Berbatov/United double (though that c*nt Tevez halved my odds) think Rooney and United is a good bet this year.

Kind of surprised a couple have already gone for Balotelli. He's never got more than 9 league goals in a season and if Tevez stays his chances will be very limited

    Luis Suarez
if he's fit, and Arsenal show any form, it'll be VP IMO.

a toss up between Aguero, Hernandez and Rooney.

whether it's Hernandez or Rooney depends on how the team's set up. if it's a partnership for the vast majority of the season, then Hernandez will get more than Wayne. if the strike force is rotated (i.e. Young/Berba/Park play instead of Chico a bit of the time), then it could be Rooney.

I am suprised the amount of people going for aguero, he is top class but I think it will take him a while to settle into the physicality and pace of the premier league. In the long run he will be class tho

yeah i'll admit he has skills/z but what 11 yellows 2 reds last year or somthing, a fight with a bib (and most players) coming out saying he doesn't like Manchester and aguero on the same team?

    gimme a break

Why the love for Rooney? He has never been very prolific consistently in front of goal. I say he'll get 16/17 league goals, but I doubt he will get much higher.

Probably because he is the best player in the league.
He is the main man for the favourites to win the league, also their penalty taker and looks to have refound his best form after a really good end to last season.

No. He's not. He's over rated. by many and especially over hyped. Great player but not the best in the league.

If United play Rooney as the main striker he could easily do it. I have a feeling he is in for a brilliant season either way, looks really lean and hungry in pre-season and has left all the crap from last seaposn fully behind him now. Would put money on him being POTY, there is so much more to his game than goals.

Maybe the POTY award, even if the Giggs one was an utter joke.

I'll also give you the League, but there is definitely more competition this year for the top spot and should be harder to call, as for the other 2 awards there are now some absolutely cracking players in the top 6 teams now, competition for these awards is likely to be tougher than ever and to frank there is no way to call it this season with any degree of certainty.

I can see other colours clearly enough too, thanks for asking, though!

Not entirely impossible that a team who I think will win the league would have the best player and top goalscorer, is it? I have a lot of faith in Rooney this season if he plays behind Hernandez in that link-up kinda role. He has been fairly awesome there and has looked very sharp in pre-season, whilst pre-season is far from the real things it does give an indication of how the players are performing after the summer break. His all round play has been fairly class so far, seems that they have finally find his best position.

If Hernandez is the main striker I could definately see him getting top goalscorer. He always looks a threat in a game. He's unreal fast, quite strong, good in the air and a lethal finisher. He has all the attributes to be the top scorer in the coming season.

Although if United sign Sneijder then it changes it all.

I was thinking that myself tbh...Bent is one of the most underrated strikers in the league imo and a good shout for a big season. Always seems to fall slightly short of the mark and there are less quality wingers at Villa this season to set him up.

Glad to see all the haters out early this year. If Rooney plays like he did in 2009/2010 and the second half of last season he will definitely be there or there abouts. There are no prolific strikers in the league except him and Drogba and with Drogba getting less and less gametime I don't think he'll do it. To say he is only rated so highly because he is English is retarded because he was without much doubt in the top 5 players in the world 2 seasons ago.

Suarez will have a big season this season too and could easily be up there.

outside those 3 and perhaps RvP (don't rate his ability to stay fit for a season at all though) and Hernandez (who I think will suffer a bit this season) there isn't anyone else really at the level to do it this season imo

Also Balotelli is more likely to score under 10 goals than over 20 and anyone voting for him will be disappointed come season end.

realise I forgot to mention Torres who could easily catch fire this season but the last 2 seasons have been fairly shambolic and I don't see it happening.

You do realise that he will only be 21 next week?? He scored 20 goals in 59 games for Inter, some of them as sub. He's already scored 6 in 17 for City in the league. He is one of the most exciting players in the world and i think this season will be his breakthrough. He also has 3 Serie A titles, 1 Coppa Italia, 1 FA Cup winners medal and 1 Champions League medal. Not bad for a 20 year old.

I agree he is very consistent but always seems to score a couple less than the top scorers and not close to winning. As I said he is top class though and it remains to be seen if he can up his game at Villa and take that next step...

Vidic, Cesc and possibly Van Persie had he gotten less injuries in his career you definitely could make arguments for, but the others i don't agree with.

Reina's not even the best keeper in the league never mind best player. Never understood the Reina obsession, he's good but not really solid enough for me. A low, powerful shot coming in he often leaves a lot to be desired. Can make some really good saves but just doesn't keep hold of the ball often enough for me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,661 ✭✭✭✭Helix

    Didier Drogba
i dont think it needs him to go up the next step as such, if he scores at the rate he always has it's hard to see anyone who'll score more. the league seems to be quite short of consistent poachers at the moment

if torres gets his scoring boots back he'll walk it, but apart from that it's too hard to say really
