The following colleges and Institutes of Technologies offer courses which have been accepted by the Veterinary Council as qualifiying successful graduates for entry onto the register of Veterinary Nurses. You can not practice as a Vet Nurse unless you are registered with VCI and have completed a training course approved by them.

Ignore the fact that St John's is a FE college and the others are IoTs, it is whether the course is accredited or not by the VCI (Veterinary Council of Ireland) which is important.

    Letterkenny Institute of Technology
    Dundalk Institute of Technology
    Athlone Institute of Technology
    UCD
    St John's College, Cork

    hey again
all of them I.Ts and colleges you mentioned has different entry requirements for example UCD requires:
Pass in any one of the following FETAC (NCVA) Level 5 Qualifications:

    CASLT Laboratory Techniques
    CASAC Applied Science Animal Care

    Pass in the following modules:

    C20153 Animal Anatomy & Physiology
    AND
    B20145 Information & Communication Systems
    OR
    B20032 Word Processing

Distinctions (80% or better) in a minimum of five modules in the qualification which must include distinctions in the following modules:
    C20006 Biology
    C20139 Mathematics.

    and

    letterkenny I.T requires:
Have obtained a full FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Animal Care (CASAC), including a distinction in C20006 Biology and two further distinctions in the following modules, C20152 Animal Welfare, C20153 Animal Anatomy & Physiology or G20001 Communications.

    and

    A.I.T requires:
Any FETAC level 5 qualification is acceptable. Applicants to this programme are required, however, to have the module Mathematics (C20139) included in their award or alternatively have Leaving Certificate Mathematics. They must also have the module Biology (C20006) at minimum Merit level or alternatively have a Leaving Certificate Science subject at minimum B3 in ordinary level.

and i am just wondering do the requirements have to be exact because i have looked up all of the Fetac courses and there is no actual course that meets all of these requirements for all of these colleges because if i was to do vet nursing and apply for them id have to apply for them all so id have a chance to get a place on one of the courses.

please help me when you get the chance,
    thank you.

The requirements are the requirements. If you don't meet them, you won't get a place. You'll have to narrow down your choice of colleges according to the modules taught in the further education college you want to attend. In general, FE colleges tend to tailor their modules to suit the 3rd level courses in their area, so a course in the North-West for example will probably have the required modules for Letterkenny.

the modules for fetac is supose to be for the links to colleges all around the country and even sometimes colleges in england so it not just for a province... and you cant just apply for one college and hope youll get in when they are only looking for one or two people out of the whole country that done fetac because there is only 1 or two places on the course so i do have to apply for all the colleges...

Certain FETAC courses have to have certain modules, but outside of that, there is a lot of choice for co-ordinators to pick and choose. Some will choose modules that are requirements for colleges near to them, others modules that match up with the expertise of their staff and others modules that have the most practical application. They do not have to link to every college. Every third level course isn't identical and it's the same with FETAC. It's like complaining that a secondary school doesn't offer Chemistry when you want to do Veterinary, you just have to choose a school that does offer it.

FETAC courses offer a stand-alone qualification, they are not just a stepping stone to 3rd level.

My advice is to find the course that offers the maximum amount of the required modules and take geography into account. Your alternative would be to repeat the LC.
