Subaru Legacy Juddering Issues

    Howeya lads,

The OH is driving a 2nd Gen Legacy which has developed a judder from take off. I.e., it's fine in normal driving once the car is moving and goes up and down the gears as it should (it's auto BTW), but from a standstill, most noticeable taking off from a junction, there is a juddering from either the tranny or (I suspect) the driveshaft.

Being AWD I've read that the issue could be the 'drive shaft hanger bearing' - anyone any experience with this?

    Thanks!:)

    No you didn't, I'm blind:P

It may well be an issue with the carrier bearing or possibly something like an engine mount. Is there much miles on it or is it always used for city/stop start driving?

Bought it December last year when the weather went to sh1te and couldn't get out of our place in the 7er. This problem has only arrised recently. Mostly the car does city driving and has cq 120k miles. I doubt it's engine mounting as you would get a jolt when breaking / letting up off the loud pedal.

You wouldn't always feel it as much as when pully away though. Could be along the line of a diff mount too. I should be a hard one to find if you got it up on a ramp. Happy to check if you wanted to venture to the northside:P
