I love the Community Shield. Purely because it means the Premiership is only a week away.

    C'mon City!

    Small bit excited

I'd expect a strong enough team from both sides.

    Possible Utd lineup;

    De Gea

    Fabio
    Vidic
    Ferdinand
    Evra
    Giggs
    Carrick

    Anderson
    Nani
    Rooney
    Young

Not sure if Cleverly, Welbeck, Smalling, Jones or Park will start after playing in Marseille on Tuesday. Evra may not play either, possibly depends on whether or not Rafael is fit. Fabio may then move to LB if Rafael does play.

Thing is a lot of the lads who didn't play Tuesday night played last night in Van Der Sar's testimonial so don't think it will have to much of a bearing. Would like to see Cleverly & Welbeck given a run as they have been very impressive in the last two games.

Any word on the knock Welbeck got Tuesday night or Rafaels injury from the weekend?

    De Gea

    Rafael
    Smalling
    Jones
    Fabio

    Anderson
    Cleverly

    Young
    Valenica
    Rooney
    Nani

I'm going for youth! Not likely to happen but not a bad line up all the same!

    De Gea
    --Fabio---Smalling--Vidic----Evra---
    --Nani---Carrick--Anderson--Young-
    Rooney--Berbatov

is what I'm looking forward to.

That's true alright, I had forgotten about the Scholes testimonial. I would still say the game will be taken seriously though and he'll put out a very strong, if not the strongest side he thinks that'll be able to beat City.

I'd be very surprised if he didn't go 4-3-3 and match City up.

UTD to nick it but the main talk will be of a long term injury to a couple of key players .

Nani Rooney Young sounds good to me

City to win 1-0, Ferdinand to react in the usual manner and have a go at Balotelli.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,320 ✭✭✭v3ttel

    De Gea
    Fab---Smalling
    Vidic
    Evra
    Fletcher
    Cleverley

    Anderson
    Nani
    Young
    Rooney

I'd like to see the 4 young lads (De Gea, Fabio, Smalling & Cleverley) get some game time, along with Fletcher. Apparently he has been training fine, so he needs some minutes on the clock. I'd definitely play Young too. Anderson needs to step up a lot and it should be a good test for him.

    Come on United.

Michael Carrick is likely to miss the game after picking up a slight Achilles problem in Edwin van der Sar’s testimonial on Wednesday

Fascinated to see what team Fergie puts out. Would love to see Cleverly and Wellbeck starting but I'm doubtful if either will. I'd say there's more chance of Cleverly starting, if either of them do.

Really looking forward to the game. :)

It will be nice to see Smalling playing right back again! He is so quick and comfortable on the ball. I have a feeling Smalling will be ahead of Rafael and Fabio for the RB slot.
