do you think there's any truth in this statement? i think there is a certain element of truth to this. a lot of friends who i have aquainted over the years have shown similar traits and i suppose this says a lot about myself as an individual

Maybe an element of truth but I wouldn't say I'm similar to all my friends.

    I'm geekier than most :pac:

one of the requirements for the garda clearance for recruitment is to list your friends and their occupations. i thought that was quite strange at the time...

'Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are'

This is more down to your morals / standards rather than what clothes you wear and what music you like.

    Yes, I believe in it.

My mother used to say 'show me your friends and I'll show you what you are'. I do believe there is an element of truth in it.

A certain former Presidential candidate might have something to say on this particular subject...

Not necessarily. People underestimate the influence friends have on each other.

A lot of the time these traits you see in your friends are a reflection of your influence on them.

Not really, I'd say its the opposite. I select them carefully.

My Mother used to say 'show me your friends so that I can blame them for getting you into trouble oh golden child'.

I remember going in and trying to convince my Mother that a friend of mine 'was starving' and could she 'give him money for a bag of chips' ( I was trying to embarrass him obv).

She went out and asked him if he hungry (he was outside with my brother) oh lordy what a laugh.

    :D

I do believe this is true, its amazing how people change after hanging around with a new group of people for a few months.

I vehemently deny that statement, I'm not imaginary in the slightest!

They must be, I'm rather quirky probably a bit of a weirdo
which translates with my friends to side splitting laughter much of the time

but put me in a bar with a bunch of yuppies and there's tumble weed about

I don't think that's true at all. Many of the people I associate with have very different people to me, although we share some common interests.
