I have a pair of AT ATH-AD700's that i really like when there's no ambient noise but suffer otherwise.

I'm thinking about picking up a pair of the ATH- M50's as a closed alternative.

Is there a better alternative for around the same price and where would be the best place to buy from? I got the ATH-AD700's from hifiheadphones.co.uk and i was happy with the service.

Another user has them and had a thread about them here

The sennheiser hd-25 ii is another alternative and there was a few places mentioned in that thread about locations to buy.

I'll have a gander at it, thanks.

I've got a pair of ath-m50s. Very good noise isolation, they work well unamped but they get a little sweaty. They semi fold and are just about portable (great on flights). Despite the sweatyness I like them very much. I've also got a pair of ath-a700s; they're much more comfortable, have good isolation but like a little amplification. Have you considered these as a closed alternative?

Thanks for the suggestion but they are a bit beyond my budget.

Pity. Anyhow, the ath-m50s are very good and I'd certainly recommend them.

Sony MDR-V6/7506 is an another alternative to consider. Slightly smaller than the M50s, I think.
