    Hi
I have started using vegan toothpaste and mouth wash and it got me thinking that I should probably get an ethical toothbrush too!
Does anyone know where I can find one?

I've seen them in health food stores the odd time but never looked too close. Are they made of more recyclable materials?

I'm not sure but the toothbrushes I see in Tescos are owned by Oral-B which are owned by a company who test on animals right? I was more looking for a company that make them who don't test on animals.

I looked in The Health Store this morning but they didn't have any toothbrushes. They had dental floss, mouthwash and toothpastes of various brands which I would assume is of ethical origin!

I saw them in a health shop a few weeks ago. They have a wooden handle but I'm not sure what the bristles are made from.

    Hey guys,
You could try ordering these 'Preserve' toothbrushes online from the VeganStore in the UK:
    http://www.veganstore.co.uk/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=1&Product_Code=092&Category_Code=820

Preserve products are not animal tested: http://www.preserveproducts.com/aboutus/index.html

this could be a really stupid question, but why would a wooden handeled 1 be more eithical than say a plastic 1?

I'm not sure, but I think in terms of materials, the wooden one would be biodegradable i suppose. The wood could be locally sourced?

I doubt the wood is locally sourced, and tbh I'd live with the non biogradable nature of plastic over wood given how it would fair in a bathroom. Damp wood is pretty much an ideal bacteria breeding ground

A friend picked up a replaceable head toothbrush with 3 spare heads in an Oxfam shop, in the U.K. so if you or anyone you know is travelling over, you can ask them to keep an eye out. Not sure whether Oxfam shop by the Stephen's Green centre have them or can get them in.

Monte Bianco re-usable handle brushes (made of nylon) with clip on heads.

Heya, I came across "The Environmental Toothbrush' in Health Matters in Grafton St during the week. They were €3.30. They had a website on the packaging: http://www.environmentaltoothbrush.com.au/

Made from bamboo. I think I might have to get one too after reading their blurb :)

Surely the thread should read Environmental Toothbrush? Ethical is more to do with the fair treatment of worker rights and fair trade with some environmental focus.

Not really, I was using the word ethical in the sense of fair treatment to animals. I wanted a toothbrush from an ethical company that don't test on animals. To me it didn't make sense that I was buying a vegan toothpaste from an ethical company and then than buying a toothbrush from a company who tests it's other products on animals.
