    Hi Guys
I recorded a lecture onto my iphone 3, the lecture is 3 hours in total, but as the recording is this long length I am unable to email it to my email account. Is there any way around this or can I could upload the entire recording onto PC ? Any suggestions much appreciated.
Lastly is the recording format MP3 ?

You can sync it to the computer in iTunes. The format is AAC.

If the iPhone is jailbroke you can download ifile and create a zip and email it from Ifile. I think you can convert it with file swell but if not there is plenty of programs available on a pc

You need to get it onto iTunes before syncing or else it'll be deleted

To sync it with iTunes you need to connect it to your PC and go through the tabs in under iphone. You should see something about voice recordings/memos. You need to tick a box to sync it cos it's disabled by default

Does the iphone have to be jail broke in order to follow the above process ? or is there another way i can access the recording through itunes ?

the problem with syncing is if it's not already in itunes any content that is set to sync gets overwrote with whatever is in the itunes library, your lecture isnt in itunes so if you set it to sync it will get deleted

sharepod might work but i dunno if it will work for memo's, worth a try anyway

Under Music in the iPhone sync screen in iTunes there is a box called Include Voice Memos. If you check that, iTunes will treat voice memo recordings like items purchased on the phone (i.e. sync them back to the computer), or ignore them otherwise.

    Copy it to you PC
Use a convertor to change the file type if you wish

Seriosuly, people love complcating things with iPhones, jailbreaking, download apps to zip the file, an app to convert it etc

I only suggested creating a zip cos the op said it was too big to email and usually with iTunes if you want to sync anything it gets deleted if it isn't already in the library

No, this isn’t the case. If this were you wouldn’t be able to buy songs on your iPhone because iTunes would delete them the minute you synced, which obviously isn’t the case. Syncing works both ways. If you make a sound recoding on your iPhone and sync with iTunes it will transfer the file over your computer. It gets added to a playlist in iTunes called Voice Memos.
