I ran into an old friend whilst out drinking one time. A handful of years later and here I am, locked in the basement of a multinational:(

Second one for me. Whole family works there! Only way to get a job in the place.

Even though this is how I got my job from a managerial point of view I think its a terrible way of employing people. Hired a bunch of new people for the summer who are relations of other staff. Incompetent cocky assholes would be how I describe them.

I would have seen the job advertised & sent in my CV.
Then I got an interview & my references got me the job after that.

I might have left one or two places a bit pissed off but I earned good references from every person I worked for even if they were a kunt at times.

I was an occasional customer for the place I now work in. Used to order online and get the stuff delivered to my parents' place in Kerry. On one occasion I was in Dublin and decided to call in rather than get it sent down. They were looking for someone so I applied there and then, was interviewed the following day. Had to call back to do an aptitude test, then got a call about a week later to say I got the job. :)

People I don't know asked me (after seeing an advert I put up online) and doubled the rate of pay I was asking for. :D

Sent in a CV for a job advertised in the paper, heard nothing for over a month and thought they just had rejected mine. Got a call for an interview out of the blue, then a second interview and 8 years later i cant get away from the feckers.

Put a few quid in the credit union for a couple of years and bought myself a van and a few other bits and bobs to put in it. Hey-presto! and I'm now and employer as well as an employee.
