Wednesday Aug 3, Throw In 7.30. Live on TG4

Can't see any thread for this so here goes. Cork come into this game as favourites having impressively dispatched Tipperary in the semi final. Limerick themselves were comfortable winners over a fancied Clare side in Ennis.

Somebody might stick up the full teams as i'm on the mobile. Cork will look towards senior players Nagle, O Farrell and Walsh. Also looking forward to seeing this Coughlan guy from Newtown. Seems to be a wonderful hurler. Limerick's charge will be led by Hannon and Downes and Mulcahy. You might also watch out for Dowling number 12 who scored freely against Clare.

    Here's to a cracker :)

Agh...I'm not going to make the match! That's what happens whne you don't go to sleep for a whole night and then have things to do during the day...

Few players I've played on the same team as in the Limerick panel and we have talent all around the pitch really but Cork are going to be very dangerous.

I think these are the teams

    Limerick:
    Limerick team
    1. Aaron Murphy (Hospital/Herbertstown)
    2. Alan Dempsey (Na Piarsaigh)
    3. Patrick Begley (Mungret)
    4. Steve O’Reilly (Ballybrown)
    5. Cathal McNamara (Doon)
    6. Cian Hayes (Kildimo)
    7. Thomas O’Callaghan (Monagea)
    8. Conor Allis (Croom)
    9. Seán O’Brien (Patrickswell)
    10. Niall Kennedy (Granagh/Ballingarry)
    11. Declan Hannon (Adare)
    12. Shane Dowling (Na Piarsaigh)
    13. Michael Ryan (Murroe/Boher)
    14. Kevin Downes (Na Piarsaigh)(Capt.)
    15. Graeme Mulcahy (Kilmallock)

Very very dangerous inside forward line and we've got Willie Griffin on the bench too. Dowling and Hannon are only 18 but are hugely talented and will get scores. Allis and O'Brien are a good partnership in midfield and Aaron Murphy has a monster puck-out.

    And Cork:
D McCarthy (Ballymartle); C Joyce (Na Piarsaigh), D Cahalane (St Finbarr’s), S Corry (Ballymartle); J Nagle (Midleton), W Egan (Kilbrin), M Ellis (Millstreet); S O’Farrell (Midleton), D Roche (Sarsfields); D Brosnan (Glen Rovers), C Lehane (Midleton), A Walsh (Kanturk); L O’Farrell (Midleton), M O’Sullivan (Tracton), J Coughlan (Newtownshandrum).

Don't know an awful lot about them but Egan's a fine defender, Nagle is highly rated, Lehane looked good against Tipp and Walsh, O'Farrell and Coughlan are very talented forwards too.

Should be a great game, hopefully Limerick can win.

Looking forward to this alright. Should be a good game but i think Cork might have the edge. They were impressive against Tipp and while Limerick were good against us i dont think our team is that great so going for Cork to win by 5 points.

    here is the Cork team:
    1. Darren McCarthy
    Ballymartle

    2. Christopher Joyce 3. Damien Cahalane 4. Seamus Corry
    Na Piarsaigh St. Finbarrs Ballymartle

    5. James Nagle 6. William Egan 7. Mark Ellis
    Midleton Kilbrin Millstreet

    8. Seamus O'Farrell 9. Daniel Roche
    Midleton Sarsfields

    10. Dean Brosnan 11. Conor Lehane 12. Aidan Walsh
    Glen Rovers Midleton Kanturk

    13. Luke O'Farrell 14. Michael O'Sullivan 15. Jamie Coughlan
    Midleton Tracton Newtownshandrum

    Captain: William Egan

    16. Michael O'Neill Bishopstown
    17. Brendan Withers Banteer
    18. Eddie Finn Ballinhassig
    19. Paul Honohan Bishopstown
    20. David Drake Carrigaline
    21. Maurice Sexton Kilbrittain
    22. Seamus Harnedy St. Itas
    23. Simon O'Brien Carrigaline
    24. Paul Haughney Midleton
    25. Brian Collins Killeagh
    26. Eoin O'Sullivan Sarsfields

Walsh looks like he'll be a dual player next year.

Cork are looking more fluid so far, Limerick are struggling to get ball into hand. Seems a bit laboured but the full-forward line is looking very dangerous.

Walsh is dominating in the air.

    Cork playing lovely stuff now.

Size of no. 18 for Limerick

how did he not score a goal from there  great effort by 6 and keeper to put him off though.

    Cork dominating now.

Yep, he was the star act for Limerick in the minor semi final against us earlier in the year. Did I hear correctly that he's minor again next year?

Nice play there by the Cork keeper. 25 mins gone - 1-6 V 0-10, good game.

No I don't think so...born in 93. But still, 3 more years U-21 and he should be in the senior panel.

Very intense game, is the ref a bit fussy? Good save from Murphy there though.

Super save, Cork should have put that away!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Dowling is some fcuking player. Better than Hannon?

Limerick are generating a few goal chances and will need to take 1 or 2 if they are going to win this game imo.

Good save from Limerick keeper there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Cracking save there from Lim keeper. Right good game here. Limerick seem a bit more passionate and gee-ed up but Cork look the more in control. Could be a right thriller of a second half. come on Limerick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Very good half of hurling. Think scoreline is fair reflection of the game.

Aidan Walsh is unbelievable while Hannon has been very quiet.

    Ht Limerick 1-7 v Cork 0-12

Really enjoyable game of hurling. Cork are getting most of their scores from play, while alot of Limericks have been frees. Walsh for Cork is simply flying - plucking them out of the air and scoring for fun (5)!!

    Bring on the second half!

Deserved 2 point lead for Cork at the break. Limerick came more on top in the last 10 minutes or so but missed too many chances and are really relying on Dowling frees who is having a super game.

Aidan Walsh is dominant, but the rest of the Limerick backs seem to have come to terms with their men and are winning more ball. Hannon and Downes are very quiet...

Limerick have a goal threat but they need to be a bit more sensible in their shot and pass choices.

    Good game though, very enjoyable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Limerick needed that badly. Completely against run of play.

Limerocks first score of each half was a goal. No more please.

Luke O Farrell beginning to get into this game for cork, super goal. what a fantastic match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

Limerick batting the ball down now and doing better under the high ball in general. Aidan walsh has two men on him! Declan Hannon going to midfield has made a big difference for limerick. Cracking goal for cork as i write and now a point. It's a one point game.
