Hi. I fancy working on my short game. Can anyone recommend a good pitch and putt course in Dublin? Somewhere near the M50 (north, south or west) would be suitable.

    Cheers.

So if you were using a pitch & putt course to practice your short game would you use the tee boxs?

Most of those that I play with who have a good short game, all played pitch and putt when younger so it must help. Also there's an excellent short game area including bunkers in Carton Maynooth. Not sure of price but I think its around €8 for an hour.

My strongest part of my game is my short game, and it comes down to 2 years playing pitch and putt

Try the Dublin Pitch and Putt website it has all the clubs affiliated to the PPUI(Pitch and Putt Union of Ireland). Of the courses around Dublin, Lucan would be the best as there greens are very quick and it is well looked after. Glenville is also a nice course but greens are usually quite slow. On the Northside Erins Isle beside the GAA club in Finglas is in great order at the minute but not sure if they do green fee's but just say your looking for a club to join(even if you aren't) and they should let you finish off your round! Ring Commons(Balbriggan) i'm not too familiar with but heard its tricky but must be in good condition as the Ladies All-Ireland were on there this year

Many of them are way too short and some of them not in the best of shape.

Some of the better ones on the southside

Pucks castle (long) couple over 200
Stepaside (behind the driving range) 2 170/180s rest 90-155
Willie Foxes (beside jonny foxes) kept in great shape (a little shorter then the other two)

A 200 yard pitch? Could hardly blade one that far myself :D
Is there a technical length limit for a pitch and putt hole? ~100 yards?

70metres is the longest hole allowed in P&P
8.3 (i) The maximum distance from tee to green shall be 70 metres, measured from the forward edge of the teeing ground to the centre of the green.
(ii) The total length of a course of 18 holes shall not exceed 1,000 metres, each hole being measured from the forward edge of the teeing ground to the centre of the green.
(iii) The length of each hole must be marked accurately in metres at the tee post.

I think the first 2 smog listed are par 3 golf courses not pitch and putt.

Yeah they are all par 3 courses.
P&P in Ireland the rules are 2 clubs(1 a putter) holes measuring no longer than 70meters and the course no longer than 1000 meters in total.
In the European tournaments it is 3 clubs(1 putter) maximum length per hole 90meters with the course's maximum distance 1200meters.

If your ever in Girona(an hour outside Barcelona) region of Spain i strongly recommend you ask for a local pitch and putt course they are magnificent over there with a thoroughly professional set up with practice greens, range and clubhouse's some of our golf clubs would be proud of!
