Hi, i've recently dropped out of my 1st year of dcu and have applied back with cao for a 3 year course elsewhere. am I entitled to the grant since it's now a 3 year course so it would actually add up to 4 years altogether?. By the way the course in dcu was a level 8 and the one im moving to is a level 7. I'm not sure if that makes any difference.
    Thanks in advance!.

If you got a grant last year then no, you will also need to pay the fees and reg fee yourself

EDIT: I should add you might be eligble for it in second year

if you dropped out no matter the course i think you have to pay for your first year yourself

Okay well i've been told I won't have to pay full fees(6000+) because I've moved down to a level 7 course so that's a major relief!. Things will be tight this year still though due to not getting the grant. I really wish I took a year out now instead of jumping into a course I didn't even like. Can anyone tell me if there are any other financial aids available for someone in my position?.

Unfortualely your on your own, there is no help if you drop out. You will be entitled if you reach second year to get the grant so long as you pass the year.

Ask whomever gave you a grant and paid your fees last year.

It's usually your local county council or VEC that give out the grants. Try contacting a student finances department in what ever college your applying to, I think you will have to pay the fees.
