Caught this video of Aer Lingus' oldest currently operational aircraft pushing back in Heathrow a few weeks ago. Anyone know if they are planning to keep these old A321s for much longer seeing as there are only 3 in the fleet ?

Aer Lingus tend to keep their fleet young! Normaly under 10 years ! So i cant see this plane staying to many years more in the fleet. Having flow on EI's 321s they are in very good condition but the older a plane gets the more it costs to maintain , or so im told! Its been speculated EI are goin to order aicraft soon so we will have to wait and see! That will give more insight to their fleet plans.

With 4 A319 in service from next March it is lightly that aircraft will leave the EI fleet. Would expect them to go by the end of summer 2012 at the latest. They may get rid of 1 or 2 A320 also. It all depends on when the lease of the A321 is up.

Also EI have aircraft older than 10 years. A330 well over that age and they wil have to last until the A350 arrives.

I agree that the introduction of the A319 may well coincide with the withdrawal of the A321's. Dependent on leasing contract and/or ownership. (EI do own a significant portion of their fleet)

However CPE is their oldest aircraft as all of the initial A330's are gone. -LAX was delivered in 1999. A320's are all 2000+

nearly sure the A321 are leased and 1 or 2 A320 are as well

I wasn't aware of any plans to retire the 321's... My understanding was that the 319's would replace the 4 initial A320's (the CV's) but I could very well be wrong.

CPE will be the first to go, if it sells. We have had people looking at it, which happens quite a lot in any airline.

Good!, it's a noisey aircraft, I flew out to majorca earlier this year on EI-DVM, then flew back on EI-CPE, some difference ,I know DVM is new but the noise in the cabin during take off on CPE and for a good 30 mins after was horrible.

The 3 A321's to go in Jan/Feb were all repainted in Dublin by Eirtech, they went to Ural airlines.

3 of the older EI A330-301's were taken by Vladivostok Avia.

In regard to the ownership issue: I was reading my EI history book yesterday. It states that as of Summer 2010 EI owned 52% of their fleet. Thus I would assume that 3/6 of the A321 are owned by EI. I would guess these are the current 3, they will get their money out of them before selling them on.
