Driving Aids

In my last Astra there were no driving aids at all outside of ABS but I was quite happy to throw it around bends and such, something ABS wouldnt have much influence on. In my current one I drive it in normal mostly with a bit of 'sport' mode too, but practically never with TC turned off. Any time I do turn it off I always have a small feeling inside me that Im going to crash straight away and that the car has no natural grip. I cant ever feel the TC working and rarely see it flicker on the dash but yet know its there.

Do you think that driving aids really make you lose touch with how your car naturally handles itself through bends etc?
I now find myself turning off the TC sometimes when I know there's a winding road ahead just to feel the car starting to kick out so I dont forget the cars limits.

The safest car ever made would have as standard equipment a big sharp spike protruding prominently out of the steering wheel.

All the Traction Control does is stop your wheels from spinning if there isnt any traction.

The only time you'll 'feel' it working is when you need it.

99% of the Time mine never comes on, only works really when its extremely wet and I give to much throttle or on snow.
