Good news for bargain hunters,Poundland is to open in the Spring in The Republic.
Was in one up North and pleasantly surprised by what they had on the shelves-much better than the junk in a lot of the discount shops that have sprung up around the country.
Saw a documentary about it and how they operate,it's a fine tuned operation aimed at minimizing costs while making a profit.

Always visit these guys when i go to the UK, great for the bargains, always stock up on loads of stuff, wonder how competitive they will be hear though after reading this bit:

"The Irish stores will be called Dealz, as its fixed-price format will be 'adapted' for its European outlets, giving the retailer flexibility to vary its prices.".......
i doubt we will see as many bargains as they do in the UK unfortunately, but glad to see them finally planning to open here as heard it last year but thought they had changed their plans.

This company crops up on UK bargain sites from time to time. That's a good sign, at least.

A couple of uk stores I would like to see here are quality save and b&m bargains. There are loads of them around the northwest and they sell absolutely everything at proper low prices. They both have this brilliant 5% ibuprofen gel and it's only 59p for a 30g tube, loads of generic meds super cheap and also brand name meds v cheap too. They do 6 packs of fizzy pop like 7up etc for £1.29. Booze is really cheap. Bags of walkers crisps for 15p a packet the list goes on. It would be good if dealz could manage something similar.

Should be called Euroland if they are going to operate here.

It's an early alert for bargains to be had next Spring,if you've ever been in one then you'll know they are famous for bargains.
They bought up a lot of Woolworths sites in the UK and are a huge success over there even with so called snobs who previously thought they wouldn't be found dead in one.

There's one in Derry and it really has some great bargains. A lot of brand name items that would be €3-4 in the south are all £1. The first time i walked in there i kept picking things up and saying "that has to be more than £1", but no, every things £1.

They did some research apparently, discovered euro was not a happy prefix these days.
