Downstairs Toilet - No window - Interior Ideas

    Hi All,

I am living in a country style dormer house in which we have a small toilet beside our utility and store room

Initially we were going to get rid of it but thought it would be handy for kids to use and it close to back door we thought we would leave the toilet there. At the moment we never really use it

It is a tiny room with just toilet and handbasin. THe problem is it has no window so I was looking for ideas to decorate the room i.e Paint and what type of accessories would suit it. I would like to keep the theme 'country and farmhouse style'

    Thanks again

I'd leave it as simple as possible with just a mirror. Make sure it has venitlation, a fan if necessary.

People would usually say WHITE.... but from being in plenty of tiny bathrooms usually under the stairs also with no windows, a warm yellow-ish colour is nice, and ya just a mirror above the basin with a shaver light is available!!

Use some fabulous wallpaper and make a statement! For a real country look use Colefax and Fowler or something from Lewis and Wood....It's the one room in the house that you can let your imagination run riot!! And you don't need a shaver light!!! No steam so you dont need to follow bathroom regulations!!

Two light colours, with a wallpaper strip dividing them. Have a fan that comes on when the light comes on, and goes off 15 minutes later (to help get rid of bad smells).

    hi :)

I have a downstairs bathroom also with no window so I painted it white but then got these black flower wall stickers that covers one whole corner of the bathroom. My other half is very artistic so he arranged them nicely. I just got a mirror and matching candle holders with almost the exact same floral pattern. Have to say everyone always remarks that room more than any other room in the house and it only cost about 30 quid to decorate :D

If only the kids are going to use it - make it fun!!!

We have a lean to on our house which has a loo in it. We painted the walls white and then me and the kids had great fun doing hand prints all over it in different colours - started as a bit of a joke but looks really good! Now they are older it is nice to have a memento of when they were little.

If you mirror one wall it will make the room seem more spacious

mmm.... I can't see a small downstairs toilet being the type of room where you would mirror one wall . Not the kind of reflected image you want to see :o.
I'm considering a rectangular mirror the same width as the wash hand basin and wall tiles the same width as the basin from floor to ceiling.
