New place to eat

    Howdy,

Since Londis has closed down a few months ago, I'm wondering if there is another place near the college that does chicken rolls fairly cheaply (< 3 euro). I'm not in the mood to go to McDonalds every day (and havent gotten the money :D ) and I can't stand the college food.

    Cheers

Was very sad to hear it was gone a couple of weeks back, hopefully the chipper just up from it starts doing Chicken Fillet rolls again.

Wow, that's a shock. Place was always mad at lunch. Don't want to have to eat the gruel in the canteen, most of it is not fit for human consumption.

Is the spar still there just over towards the Luas terminus? That's where we used to munch - it has been about 6 years though (i don't even know of this Londis that ye speak)

Yeah the spar is still there. Know how much a chicken roll would cost by any chance?

They used to do a similar deal to Londis, Chicken Fillet Roll and drink for €3.50 or something, never tried them but would see the sign in the mornings getting off the Luas.

€3.50 isn't too bad I suppose for a roll and chicken. I'll test drive the place a week before college starts

Well i found that from the months of october to march, your sandwiches or what ever you bring in yourself doesn't get all warm and soggy as the college acts like a fridge because its so cold.

Supposedly Spar in Village Green rolls ain't the best, Spar at the Luas does €2.99 Chicken Fillet Baguettes with salads, haven't tried them yet though. Two for Tuesdays in Dominos was availed of today!:D

Subway has student discounts. I went there today. Also there is a 12' sub+ a drink, which I think is refillible for €6 isn't too bad. I don't think the canteen is that bad. The food isn't great but it's cheap.
Any good suggestions are always welcome. I got loads of discounts for Maccy D's so that's okay one day a week. Also, where are these Spars? I know you say at the Luas but what is the road called and where exactly is it? Is it at the final stop?
Someone said there was two also, where is the second one.
Oh I also hear the chipper just down the road is nice.
Finally Metro do a lunch meal for a fiver.
There's a few good places around not sure which fits the happy medium between 'decent quality food' and 'student budget'

After trying both Spars, I've learned that the one at the Luas is cheaper and nicer, BUT, I've decided to just bring my own pot noodles and rolls to college from now on. Unfortunately the college charges 20c for hot water 0.o So, I actually might just buy a flask and put soup and what not in it. I always feel strange about paying for water....

Is it any 12" sub? If so that's decent.

There's a Spar down in Village Green opposite the AIB in the Village and there's one at Tallaght Luas Stop.

Chipper is Macari's iirc, I know last year they had buy one get one free on some stuff on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

There's also an all you can eat Chinese which is meant to be decent just at Revenue.

There's one of any 7 12" sub. There's a huge choice as well. 12" sub and a roll, you can't go wrong.

If they do a good hot chicken roll for €3 and maybe have it in a meal with a packet of crisps and a bottle of coke for a fiver, I'll be there everyday and then into the bookies :)

Can't beat the Lunchtime 49s, they served me well in the 2 years I had Londis, I'll get a few weeks out of Centra before I'm done.
