Hi this is my first time on boards but i hope i can get some advice. Hurt my right knee playing sports in July 2010 . Alot of swelling above right knee 2 physios said they had never seen a knee like it. Swelling came down after a wk. Was fine until nov 2010 went for run on road and wore ugg boots the following day swelled up again . Went to hartmann in dec 2010 ended up having knee scope with Dr Moran in Santry Sports clinic showing mild rheumotoid arthritis cd be waiting up to 2 years to see rhuemtoid consultant in merlin park galway.:mad: In the meantime i also have been diagnosed with a left hip impingment having mri scan done next wk and meeting dr eanna falvay. I presume this is as a result of compensating . :( I do notice that i supinate on my right leg esp shows on the heels very obvious. thinking of going to Michael Davis in kildare for orthotics as might take pressure off the outside of right knee. I was irish dancing from 4 to around 20 so i presume dat is a factor . I am normally very active playing sports so this has really affected my whole life. Dont know where to go to from here. Has anyone any advice on either injury or advice on rhuematoid as waiting for dat length of time is just crazy. Thinking diet would also be a factor in it any help please....:):):)

to be honest, if you are after seeing 5 physios or doctors, who have diagnosed and treated you, I doubt you are going to find any useful information here where people dont have the qualifications or havent seen your injury. you'd be best talking to your doctors than anonymous posters on an internet message board

Hi thanks for reply. I understand where your coming from but was hoping some people who are may have faced similar situations and may have found things to help them...

Madel1, I had a similar problem few years ago from rugby. Major difference was my swelling was under my left knee. It was caused by "loose" muscle around my knee (short version) It still bothers me a bit every now and again but only when I put strenuous pressure on it from continuous running. Physios told me to strap it but an obvious strap on a knee on a rugby field is like showing a flag to a bull.I have found strapping it helps but only in the gym and after getting it strapped properly. Sorry i cant be more informative on this one.

I'm afraid we can't allow any medical advice to be given out here as there's no way of verifying the credentials of any of the posters here and it could be quite dangerous. Your best bet is to continue seeking professional medical advice and hopefully you'll be back to good health soon.
