3 Broadband 60 gig Monthly download Limit

It sounds might impressive so I just checked 3's map for my area and seemingly there is now full coverage, which wasn't the case about six months back. Back then I tried their services, but was disappointed with the very inconsistent results, but in view of their apparent improvements I am considering taking the plunge again - I return their product last time and was able to use their 14 day money back guarantee to get out of the 12 month's contract without hassle.

But now I am about ready to try again.

The rep I spoke to assured me the 60 gig monthly download allowance isn’t Role-Back, that it is “refreshed” at the beginning of each billing cycle. If this is the case, and the service is up to scratch, then it has to be one of the best deals out there for people in my situation. Plus, I get to use the service were ever there is 3 coverage.

The device I am thinking of getting can be seen here: http://www.three.ie/contractstore/shop/flow/basket.aspx?handsetProductId=889&tariffProductId=899

The device cost €39 and the monthly plan 29.99 a month for 12 months, if I were to opts for the 18 month contract I’d get the device for just €9.

60 Gig a month seems pretty impressive to me so I am keen to try 3 again. Of course, if it is similar to before, then I will use the 14 day cooling off period to cancel.

So for going on, I was going to ask if anyone has their 60 gig package and if so is it role-back or refreshed at the beginning of each monthly paying cycle?

I am learning to be weary of what reps say on the phone:)

Looks good, I think the Meteor PAYG option I'm on now is 7.5GB a month.

Is this available on pay as you go?

The Meteor allowance looks nothing compared to 3's 60 Gigs!:)

Not sure if the 60 Gig option is available PAYG, they do have other options, though which I believe are PAYG.

    60GB is Bill Pay only.

Advice - Test it before you use it, get a 3Pay Broadband SIM and borrow or beg a dongle top it up and try it at all hours of the day to see if contention is an issue in your area yet. Don't get anything more than a 12month contract as 3 are screwing up their own network on a daily bases by selling more bandwidth than they actually have, so if its tests out OK today you could be cursing it in 14months time and still be under contract. The reduced price dongle isn't worth the extra contract period.

Edit> And don't get cought out by any promises of a money back guarantee, it only applies if you can't connect at all so you can still get stuck with a contract even if you have pathetic speeds.

    That is very helpful. Thanks.

When I was with 3 before, the service was very unpredictable and inconsistent. Things is, I would have stayed with them back then if it was possible to remain connected and even surf the net, but there were long periods of many hours when there simply was no way to get on line, which was very frustrating. I am just hoping things are better now.

As for bad speeds goes here's what I am experiencing with Eircom at this very moment.

With those eircom speeds I'd want to be checking my internal phone wiring then finding someway of getting an Eircom engineer out to check the line. Even so that speed is faster than my 3 connection for about 6 hours of the day :(

I am told by Eircom the line’s been checked and basically that’s as good as it is going to be; seemingly this is because I am right at the end of our local exchange, hence my wish for a service with more reliable speeds and connection. However, I am certainly cautious about trying 3 again, but as it appears their coverage has improved in my area it might be worth giving them a go.

My point is that if you can get an actual linesman out to some sort of problem then might be able to swap you over onto a better pair of copper cables. Our local exchange isn't enabled and even for ISDN I was told I was too far from it, when I eventually got someone out it was a different story altogther.

Good to know your issue was resolved.

I am told by Eircom, and other such telephone line providers available in my area, that my line is only capable of handling up to 1 Meg speed, but as we have seen from my earlier post I am not getting anything near that.

To my knowledge there is no such option available to me but I will look into it further. If it is as simple as swapping over to a better pair of copper cables, then I am made up.
