While driving the faster the car goes the louder the howling noise becomes, was told to jack car up and try see if any play in the wheel side to side and up and down and there is none, when i turn a corner on either side side the noise is the same

Anyone know how i can tell which one is gone, car is due for test on monday, its a 00 focus everything else seems ok this just had to happen coming up to a test!

    cheers in advance

Doesn't have to be loose, can actually tighten up as well.

    Jack the car up,

Spin the wheel, if its coming from the Disc its probably pads, or a stone could be stuck in there, or the Dust cover could be bent slightly and touching off the Disc edge.

A wheel bearing wont fail the NCT as they wont be able to detect it unless its completely shot and the wheel has movement (side to side)

Generally when a bearing starts to wear a noise will only be heard when steering in the direction that the worn bearing is on. If you have a noise all the time then it maynot be bearings. What type tyres have you on the car and how old are they? Some tyres, especially performance tyres get noisy when theyre worn and some cheaper budget tyres hum/whine all the time even from new as theyre generally a harder rubber compound.

I recently had a bearing replaced in my car, the thud thud thud noise that started after I went over 60kph happened weather I was turning or not
