My husband is very interested in learning to sail and I've bought him a voucher for a beginners sailing course in Bray. I'd like to get him a book as well. My own boating knowledge is zero. Could you recommend a book pls? Thanks.

I haven't read many sailing books but here are some that I liked:

Learn To Sail In A Weekend by John Driscoll (This is short, easy to read, and relates very well to your first lessons - especially if they're in a small boat.)

Sailing: A Beginner's Guide by David Seidman (Have read most of this and it is excellent.)

The Complete Day Skipper by Tom Cunliffe (Currently reading this, very good, but maybe not necessary as a first sailing book unless he's keen to buy a boat.)

Go Sail by Steve Sleight (I think the focus of this book was dinghy sailing so this may or may not suit depending on what kind of sailing he's hoping to do. It came with a nice DVD with instructional footage relating to each chapter of the book.)
