    Are there any real consequences of taking the piss using this service? for example if I open a live chat window and tell the agent 'Hello there is a mouse under my bed, please help' would they close my account?

    No, they're used to getting a few messers now and then. They might even appreciate the entertainment if you do it late at night when things are quiet.

    So you've weighed up a potential, albeit unlikely con (them closing your account), what exactly is the potential pro of this?

    If you have a legal gambling account, you must be over 18. If you are over 18, do you really thinks it's necessary to essentially "Prank Call" some anonymous employee?
