I'm attending a wedding in England, the groom is Irish and the bride English. Do weddings guests wear the same types of dresses/outfits to weddings in the UK as they do here? I wouldn't like to be under or overdressed or wearing the completely wrong thing. As far as I can gather there is no dress code for the wedding

from the weddings I have attended over and from what friends have told me I think in general we get more dressed up for weddings here and most women would get their hair/makeup done profesionally as well for Irish weddings

I have never known anyone here to get their hair and/or make up done professionally when they are just a guest at a wedding.

OP I'd wear the same kind of thing I'd wear to a wedding here, a nice dress, and just nicely done hair and make up, just straightened or light curls or whatever in my case. Aim for the middle ground if you're not sure.

Well most weddings I have gone to guests have had their hair done in various upstyles, curly blow dries etc and I know plenty of people that always get their make up done too for a wedding.

I must start going to posher weddings then! I would no more waste time and money on that stuff if I was just a guest.

I know its gone ridiculous, I didn't have time to get my hair done for the last wedding I went to and it seemed everyone had a fancy hairstyle

I think the dress is the same. The only difference I can think of in the weddings is that the English ones tend to finish earlier, but that has no impact on how you dress.

Thanks for the replies. I would always get my hair and makeup done for a wedding and had no problem booking a hairdresser and makeup artist over there. I usually wouldn't be overly worried about an outfit but its my fellas brother getting married and you know how we all wanna be perfect for the inlaws
