Do I have to own the car I use for the test?

Like it says on the tin. Not sure if my car will be roadworthy on the day of the test, so I have the option of using another car. It's taxed and insured, doesn't need an NCT as it's less than 4 years old. I'll be insured as a named driver.

Is this ok or do I have to inform the RSA or something?

You should be fine. I know plenty of people who did their tests in their instructors cars.

No. My son did his test in my car. Once you're insured to drive it you will be fine.
    Good luck with the test.

As above: it's absolutely no problem.
What I would say is check the car over the day before doing the test: a colleague of mine used a friend's car, only to be refused to sit the test because a rear bulb had blown...he didn't think to check a car his friend had been driving...

Ya you can but you can also get a car from your Instructor you are doing your lessons with. You can hire the car for the test otherwise use your car or someone elses car should be no problem. Once the car is taxed, insured and up to date NCT along with the car in good service and good working order, L plates then you are sorted. Be sure that the car is road worthy and that your learner permit is up to date!

Make sure you know how to check the oil, water etc in the new car
