Deep rim wheels

Looking to buy my first set of deep rim carbon wheels for sprint triathlons mainly - my budget isnt huge - the reviews in magazines seem to vary as regards what they consider a good wheel - my lbs favours mavic as spares are easier to come by - would the cosmic carbone sl at €900 approx offer most of the aero advantages of the €1500 slr which has the same rim but carbon spokes and hub and is a couple of hundred grams lighter - planet x and others are less expensive but i was hoping to stay away from tubs and full carbon rims - they will be a long term investment so durability is also very important - any views on the sram s60 - I like the look of the hed h3 but havent seen many around

just come in from the suir valley 3 day hill climb , was talking to a club mate who had just finished using the mavics. Told me he was sick of fixing spokes in both sram 60 and easton ec 90 so went for the carbones and has had no problems since.

Mavicwheels wear out very quickly and unfortunately take the free hub bodies or as well. It can bs fixed by replacing the freehub body with a third party after market one though.

most mavic wheels will take a sealed cartridge bearing so there would be no reason for the free hub to wear out apart from total neglect , if they get rough change the bearings. I have worn out mavic rims before the bearings needed changing

    I never mentioned bearings :)

I'm talking about the nylon brushing in the freehub body. Wears down the body and results in lateral play.

I could be wrong, but I think there is a site called 'Rogue Mechanic' that shows how to service the freehub to avoid you needing to replace it.

Yip, i bought a new freehub to find the same problem, then I fixed the old one with a new 3rd party nylon brushing (same as rogue mechanic says).

I've been considering getting some deep section clincher wheels myself recently and I saw on a few UK TT boards people talking about Fuerte Bici wheels. I'm a complete novice when it comes to aero wheels, so I'd be interested to know what the experts here make of them. At ~€550 for a 50mm carbon clincher they're almost €700 cheaper than the Cosmic Carbone SLR's, and nearly a hundred grams lighter too. There's got to be a catch surely?

thanks for advice - but i think an aluminium rim would suit me better - i couldnt be bothered changing brake blocks around if i wanted to put my old wheels back on
