    I really can't see him beating Obama. And his choice of VP will be important. If he picks Bachmann like some are suggesting then he's screwed. It'll be another McCain/Palin episode all over again (speaking of which, Palin could still decide to run).

    Part of me hopes they are stupid enough to select Palin again - if only to de-rail their own efforts.

    Cannot see anyone beating Obama at the moment. The whole national debt situation is reflecting worse on the Republicans than the President, and it's wrecking their prospects of painting the economy as Obama's problem. On top of that, the lunatic fringe is disproportionately strong in the Republican Party at the moment, which will do absolutely nothing to endear any candidate to the undecideds who could decide it. Nobody vacillating between the Democrats and the Republicans is going to vote for a ticket with someone like Bachmann or Palin on it.
