... Not that what anyone will say herein as anything to do with whether or not I'm going to watch it, but, y'know, just for the heads up... :D

I like it. Was quite a brave film for it's time, and some elements of the film stand up surprisingly well considering it is over 80 years old. It has one of my favourite bitter sweet endings, one which lingers for some time each and every time I view the film.

I watched it and Paths of Glory over the course of two days a few months back, just to compare them, with the former coming out on top in my eyes.

Things like the effects of war on the mind are dealt with very well, as are the hardships of trench life/warfare.

I could ramble on about the film as there are many scenes and themes that stand out, but I fear that I would end up mentioning something or other that would spoil certain scenes.

Enjoy watching it, it is a film that is well worth the 2 or so hours of anyone's time.

There a shocking scene where you see a pair of hands grabbing a barbed-wire fence with the rest of the body missing!
