    A coat!

I don't really get when it's said only tanned people can wear certain colours, there's a shade of whichever colour to suit every skin type.

That dress is lovely! (wouldn't look good on me though).

Apparently colourblocking is sticking around but with darker, more wintry colours (teal, mustard yellow, maroon, navy etc).

I'm actually superpale but a lot of oranges work on me - really warm me up.

skyscraperblue - I like the sound of a rust/navy colourblock top or dress!

I also want about 5 coats but I ADORE coats. I need to buy a house to keep my coats in, really short on space :(

Looks like it's a lot of 70s shapes as well as colours, but more American preppy 70s than English hippy/hipster 70s, if that makes sense - a lot of the stuff looks really Charlies Angels/Mary Tyler Moore daywear. The H&M lookbook is really good, worth a look.

RiverIsland have a preview/insight into their fall/winter lines on the website now. :)

Pretty much pale orange & pale red pastels... Colour-blocking with more Wintry colours, as a poster above said. :)

    -this is mens btw- :)

I love orange! I know it seems really counter intuitive but it really works on pale skin, here's me in a bright orange dress (I know it looks kinda red, but it is humming orange!):

Maybe orange wouldn't be great if you had really brassy yellow tones in your hair but it's one of the biggest AW11 trends colourwise, plus yellow/mustard which I'm not quite as sure we can pull off!

Asos has done the most accessible analysis of the trends so far, I love the way they've broken it down. So far I'm in love with what they're calling LA Vintage but is a 70's bright colour pop trend:

    Picture+28.png

I also love the fetish trend, it should translate well into the high street:

    Picture+27.png

Love the PPQ jacket and skirt on the far left, I so want a jacket like that!

The other really big trend is a ladylike 40's influenced look, think a bit Mad Men, midi length dresses and pussybow shirts.

Bring on the winter! Spring/Summer just doesn't work for us over here, we only get 10 days of sunshine so it's hard to get excited about beautiful spring dresses and revealing swimwear. A trend that endorses huge wooly coats? Now that's something we can get behind as a country :D

I'm glad midi dresses are sticking around, as a tall girl I can finally wear dresses without looking indecent :D

Loving the fetish trend. This winter I will be clad in leather, silver, black and studs. A/W makes me so excited! Definitely my favourite time of year.

Have seen that Creepers seem to be making a comeback, but I don't think they're for me.

Think I'm going to get some Doc Martens like these instead, not sure what colour though. I'd like them with a pencil shirt and fitted top, or black skinny jeans.

Oxblood docs! Wow, I had a pair of those in Primary School, I hated them because everybody else had black and I didn't want to stand out. I was so ahead of the times

I'm not sure about the fetish trend, I think I'll be partaking in that through accessories only. I have a pair of studded leather gloves around here somewhere...

70s does seem to be sticking around, leather and lace too, colour blocking, some metallics esp knitwear, animal prints, clashing prints, camel and dark ruby, mulberry, purplish colours seem to be everywhere at the moment.

Nooooooooo! Not the creepers! They make even super cute, supe kooky Susie Bubble look like a clod-foot nerd:

I couldn't, I just couldn't! Maybe someone somewhere can wear them and rock them but not mw :p

^^^^ she looks like she has cartoon feet!!

 After seeing that picture I think it's safe to say that to wear Creepers you can't have super skinny legs or tiny feet! She looks mental!

A couple of my mates have them and totally rock them though! They've been wearing them with skinny jeans or midi length black skirts.

The Men A/W collections have been really odd looking so far, very disproportioned jackets mixed with lots of fur, lots of rank looking patchy fur. The 70's has crept in as well with some questionable velvet suits by Tom Ford and Burberry is surprisingly awful. The chequered coats are so bland and I am so disappointed considering last year their jackets were exceptional.

Missoni looks like their inspiration was their grandfather gardening, Acne are the only one that have not made me want to cry but they themselves are quite safe and very last year. SIGH...

    :(

Has anyone got any links to the AW2011 collections of the various high street shops? I'm going on a shopping spree at the end of the month/beginning of September and I'd love to see what's out there! I've seen the Reiss look-book but I'd LOVE to see more! :)

Really looking forward to seeing what textured pieces will be available. Could go horribly, horribly wrong though. And I can finally wear my dear dead aunt's faux leopard fur jacket without looking like an absolute creepster. Delighted with the amount of dress coats being shown - love the ones shown by Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti - though I'm convinced I saw one with the weirdest, most beautiful cut, but it doesn't seem to exist - might have just been the way the coat moved in the photo, but I remember one being slightly longer on one side than the other, in a really nice angular sort of way, and with really wide sleeves. http://www.vogue.com.au/fashion+shows/galleries/philosophy+di+alberta+ferretti+ready+to+wear+a+w+2011+12,12943?pos=17#top

Saw a nice dress coat in H&M today, a sort of burnt orange colour with 3/4 length sleeves. Was really nice!

Faux Fur & Feather are definitely going to stay strong this autumn/winter.
Shoes : Colored wedges such as purple, orange, brown. Ankle Boots. Blucher.
Red, Mustard, Emerald green and navy blue are strong colors for tops and blazers.
Black and Beige dresses are also hits. Rather straight dresses.
Pleated Skirts above ankle length (American Apprel style).
    Capri Trousers
Red, Mustard, Pink, Brown knit tops
