Brake lights not working?

    Hi, my brother has a 98 Polo and the brake lights stopped working. Bulbs have been changed and all the other rear lights work but its just the brake lights arent. any ideas??

    Most likely the brake light switch. Its located behind the brake pedal, usually attached to the frame at the front of the footwell. Its either fallen out of place (did this on my old Passat) or is knackered. Looks something like this:
