Panasonic TX-L37DT30 - any Irish users?

    Hi,

This new Panasonic television has both Freesat and Freeview HD built-in, and also has a recording facility via an external drive.

Has anyone tried this in Ireland? How does it work with Saorview? Can you easily move between the satellite and DTT inputs?

    Any advice appreciated!

Don't have this particular model but if it's anything like it's predecessors then it's just a simple button press to move from analog-freesat-other sat-DVB(dtt). The most annoying problem you might find is that the audio keeps defaulting to narattive on dtt and you will have to manually change it every time you change channels but this might be fixed on this range.

I know a lot of people don't like panny after the whole mess with the '08 non freeview hd model range but anything they've made with freeview hd built in has been fine afaik and the picture quality on all their tv's is pretty damn good.

No problem with audio on Panny D25L (2010 model). Saorview & Freesat working fine, brilliant picture but Panasonic forgot to put MHEG5 in their 2010 L range models. PVR via USB HDD is good but as there is only one DVB MPEG4 tuner, there is no option to view one digital broadcast while recording another. AV input (eg Sky) can still be viewed though while recording DVB-T/S transmissions. Does the model you have receive the Saorview digital text?

Does MHEG work on the Freesat part?

I don't thing they forgot to put MHEG in. Most likely the deliberatly disabled it as they didn't realise Ireland would use it.

Either way the sets should be avoided and Panasonic told why.

Panasonic - nice pictures, lousy customer support. I wouldn't touch them.

only one DTT tuner isn't great. I was hoping for 2x for each input, external drive and there you go....ah well....

An utterly rotten company for customer support and unresolved bugs with Saorview. I personally wouldn't dare buy one of these but some masochist might test one in Ireland for us some time...the picture is damn good I will say. Best place to test is near the border but inside the UK...and then bring it back to the shop the next day if it does not work perfectly.

If it does work the lads in Richer Sounds will be watching this thread and them agog....maybe a boardsie in Armagh or Down will hook up with Richer Sounds to test one. :D
