Difficulty of Selling 1st Car

    Hi Folks,

I've found it really hard to even consider selling my 1st car
Bit of background info , I saved and bought my car for my 18th Birthday and It's served me well ever since (3 years) Since moving to college in Dublin I havent needed to use it during the term (Coming from the Country). I've been looking after it and keeping it ticking over the past year , Last time it was on the road was last october and I've it under a tarp to protect the paint.

The cars a Mazda 323f '97 with about 70K Miles on it. I'm afraid that whatever I get trying to sell it , (perhaps 900 euro optimistically), would never be able to buy me something comperable to it for close to that price.(Mileage , Reliability).

Just wondering has anyone else ever become so attatched to a car that they wont sell it? I feel bad letting it sit at home unused for the most part for the next year or two atleast and I know the irish weather wont be kind to it , even under a Tarp since we dont have a garage to store it.

Am I better off Biting the bullet and selling it , or should I keep Hording it for another few years and think about getting classic insurance?

    Thanks!

let it sit up, save 500 and then presumung you get the 900 for the Mazda go out a buy a 01/02 Mazda 323. Stepping up, but same perks you want, just look out for the mileage and stuff.

Yes, I know exactly how You feel, I've my first car just over a year and my head tells me to get rid of it due to the 151,000 miles on it but it's been suprisingly reliable for 1.4 Golf.

After last xmas I did some work to it and since then I really want to hold on to it. Being my first car I'd never get rid of it, but thats not practical. At the moment I would have to sell it to upgrade, so I'm holding out to save up enough to upgrade with out selling and take it from there. maybe give it to my sister or something.
