Need to book 8 flights to Munich with Aer Lingus in May '12.
Any idea when these flights become available.? Site stating that route bookable up until March '12

Think its 300 days in advance.

    Munich is a quality city!

Yes I thought it was around 300 days but well within that now. Site saying flights only until March. Hope it's wrong.
Surely they wouldn't cancel Munich. Flights always seem popular.
    Love Munich

Ryanair fly to West Memmingham, or something like that. It's about a 2 hour drive from munich, but with a big crew like that, you could hire a minibus or something.

Aer Lingus summer schedule ie March 2012 - October 2012 should be on sale by September/October.

Wouldn't fly there if I were you.

Tried the Ryanair Memmingen flight and headed for Lake Constance which was in exactly the right direction.
Would really prefer the Aer Lingus flight and will book....if I can...the Erdinger Brewery hotel for the first night. Will keep an eye on the flights and hopefully get the lot in September.
    Thanks

    Love Munich
Flights are indeed very popular throughout the year.
    - Winter brings the skiers
    - Christmas is wedged with families heading back to Ireland for Christmas from the continent or Germans back to germany from Ireland.
-Summer is bedlam with all the gemans heading over to experience the Irish East European Hospitality in the pubs and hotels of the emerald isle.
    - Even the off peak in Spring and Autum is brisk enough with an unbelievable amount of mostly Irish business travellers shuttling between Ireland and Munich coupled with others who want to make the spin to visit family but are priced out of it at the peak summer/ winter times.

That Aerlingus has 10 flights each way per week, Lufthansa a summer only flight (plus proclaiming that MUC-Frankfurt-Dublin is one of their busiest connections!) and Ryanair putting their toe in the Market with the memmingen connection - all just show that theres a demand there and that Aer lingus can more than justify keeping the route.

Munich-Cork though is another kettle of fish but it ticks along reasonably enough despite never being the busiest of routes. But still, its been cut to twice a week from 3 or 4 times a week rather than being pulled altogether.

Flights to Frankfurt with Lufthansa much cheaper than anything Aer Lingus can offer and that includes your baggage too. With Lufthansa you can also buy a train ticket to most anywhere in Germany for €25 each way, could be worth checking them out. Great airline to fly with.

When you get sorted in airport go down stairs and get the train into the city, you dont even have to leave the airport.:D

Aer Lingus flights to MUC for summer 2012 now bookable,

    leave DUB 07.20 daily
    leave DUB 16.20 4 weekly.

Do not book them now close to €300 each way. Wait until November/December when EI always have a sale for summer 2012.

Thanks Jamie. Amazed at the price!! Flew to US for much less.Lufthansa quoting about 154 but prefer Aer Lingus's flexibility
    Will wait, as suggested,'till November

Hi, I'd recommend if there are 11 of you travelling to ring Aer Lingus direct and they will more than likely give you a group rate rather than an individual rate as what will get on the internet. The yield department ( which is the department that sets fares in all airlines) will more than likely give you a far better quote. The price is usually inclusive of baggage charges and all the extras etc. What then happens is you book the required number of seats and then about 7 days before travel you submit the names and passport numbers of the travelling party. This way if things change between now and then you don't have to confirm the actual names until a week before travel. I reckon for 11 people they should be able to help you out. It happens everyday with groups travelling, for example school tours, international and provincial soccer/rugby teams etc. They normally can't confirm names and numbers until the last minute so having a group booking brings them flexibility at no extra cost. It's the same in all airlines. Why not give them a call and see what they say. If not then I would definately recommend waiting for their sale which is usually end of year or early next year. The price quoted at the moment is just put in to have a price on the flight. I very much doubt they have looked at it yet in any great detail as the flights have only just been loaded onto the system and very few people book this far in advance. The first seat sales of the year are in reaility the real price of the flights. It's the realistic price of what they are going to sell the seats at. As much as they would like you to, they know you are not going to pay 300 euros for a flight almost a year in advance. The sale price is the price they come up with when they have worked out the yield (money) required to be made on the flight and is the one that has the more 'realistic' price on it. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Sailing. Prices are changing daily.
Now need 13 flights...one of which includes full bridesmaid's kit, so luggage allowance included would be good.
Will call Aer Lingus and report back.
At this stage would really love to get the flights and hotel booked.
Wonder why I volunteered to be travel agent????
