    Hi all,

I am going on honeymoon to Thailand in September and I'm starting to get a bit nervous about missing the pool games.I know that I will be on these islands:
Koh samui,Koh Tao and Koh phangan and I was told "If you can find them showing any where we will work the hotels and dates around them" which I thought was fair enough so therein lies the question.
Has anyone been to these places and would know of any fine establishments that we could watch the games?
Any help or suggestions would be hugely appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read this.

    Enjoy the bank hollier,

    P.

Soccer is the big sport in thailand - have watched 6 nations in bangkok , loads of sports bars - when i was in ko phangan and tao , many years ago there was barely electricity , but football was always shown - theres many aussies over there so i'd say you will be all right

    good luck getting married :-)

    Koh Tao - Never there

Koh Phangan - I would doubt you will see anything there but in saying that we were in a bungalow style place and they had a satellite in the communal area where we could watch tv. Albeit american but you might get sports

Koh Samui - I would say that's your best chance as a few Irish and English pubs and is very touristy island and has a proper town centre

  • Leave her at the altar, you'll be guaranteed to see the games that way!

Was in Thailand during the 2009 Six Nations. Bangkok, Phuket, Pi Pi Islands, Koh Samui and had no problem finding places to watch em. You'll have no bother finding places showing the world cup. There's plenty of Irish, English and Aussi bars out there.

Wherever you are just head towards the centre of activity and you will find a pub showing the matches. No need to change your plans (unless you'll be in the middle of the jungle). If your stuck whatever hotel your in will more than likely be showing it in the bar anyway. There will be plenty of Aussies out there in September so it will be shown everywhere I'd imagine.

I watched Magners league in a pub in Koh Samui 2 years ago so I'd imagine you won't have too many problems watching the WC. That said its not on Sky so that might hinder you a bit.

Are ESPN picking up the american rights again?

Yeah Dirty Nelly's (Irish Bar) on Koh Tao showed the football when I was there.

Tropical Murphys Chaweng Beach on Koh Samui will show the Irish games for sure. They show the All Ireland Final :)

Put her to the test on that one:

Not surprisingly the aforementioned test didn't go to well but was worth it just to see the reaction.
Thanks for all the advice so far, feeling a lot more at ease now heading off and now that i know there is a few options, where there's a will there's a way etc etc..
Thanks again for the swift responses.

Was in Thailand for my honeymoon and was able to watch VI nation games no problem. Would imagine world cup would be even easier.

Part of our trip was Koh Samui. Didn't go to other places.

If you can get married you can do anything :-)
