I'd do a search on here with "passat" and "problems" and see what you get.
There are lots of different issues with the B6 model.

The 2.0 is very prone to this. At that mileage it will be calling a fly wheel soon.

107,000 miles or kilometres? Bit of a difference.

If I were you I would be extremely wary of buying one of these cars with THAT engine in it.

Check this out first before doing anything

Read it and you may have second thoughts about the car.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

I must say it makes my blood boil to read that thread on honest John. I have a petrol passat but all the same it is really disgusting how VW have dealt with this problem. I see VOSA in the UK have forced VW's hand in replacing the said faultly injectors. I'd be interested to hear about anyone over here who has had success getting VW to replace their injectors as a goodwill gesture. I would imagine they are few and far between. It sounds like VW happy to screw Irish customers over while they replace their english counterparts as long as they can get away with it.

The 2005 Passat 2.0 TDi was a PD unit, VW only switched to CR in 2008. PD injector failure very common all the same though. Another issue with that engine was oil pump failure.

Sport was also a UK trim level so I'd want to be seeing a full service history with the car. But being honest I would look at something else. 2005 - 2007 B6 Passats were plagued with problems, add that engine's known issues and it's a potential time bomb.

OP, if you want a 05 Passat then look for one of the B5.5 run out models, less likely to give you problems.

Over the last six months I have read countless posts here and on other websites about the fuel injectors. With pressure on firms to make diesels faster etc they are now far more complex. This is seen with this engine the 2.0TDI PD engine. It uses Siemens fuel injectors which while faster are far less reliable than the old Bosch injectors. Usually if one goes it is only a matter of time before all four need to be replaced. Could cost in excess of €3000.

If you are set on a 05 Passat than I would look at the older 1.9 which is slower and older but far more reliable.

Each to their own, but I would strongly recommend against that VW.

Hey, first time 'motors' poster. I have the B6 2.0TDI, which was imported from UK in 08. I had it in VW in Louth recently for service and was pleasantly surprised when i dropped it in that morning to be told i would be receiving new injectors due to a recent recall......hopefully all others have been given the same treatment by now?
