Ladies day: Best dressed or Best Model lookalike?

I recently came across a website with pictures of winners of best dressed ladies at various horse events. What struck me the most is that all these ladies conformed to one stereotype; Tall, skinny and pretty.

To me best dressed competitions seem to reinforcing stereotypes that I hoped as a society we were moving beyond. Walking down the streets of Dublin, Galway or any other town in Ireland you see well dressed women of all shapes and sizes. You don’t have to be a size 8 to own a sense of style. Judges of ladies day need to broaden their horizons!

What do my fellow boarders think?
